The AEC applauds the Administration's decision to remove four types of aluminum extrusions from the generally approved exclusions ("GAE") from the Section 232 aluminum tariffs. This is a positive development for the domestic extrusions industry and a good first step to address unfair trade practices by foreign producers. At the same time, the extent of unfair trade in the market outweighs the level of the Section 232 duties, and many countries are exempted from them altogether. Further relief, particularly through the ongoing antidumping and countervailing duty investigations into imports of extrusions, is necessary to remedy the fully extent of harm caused to U.S. manufacturers across all types of aluminum extrusions and restore a level playing field to the American extrusions market.
