Automotive Crush Can

The extrusion on the left is a “crush can” mounted between the bumper and the frame of an automobile.  It is designed, in case of a crash, to fold to the shape on the left, absorbing a huge amount of energy as it does so, keeping occupants safer in a crash.

Critical Element

This extrusion in a key element in a LED lighting fixture for a medical operatory.  Note the fins to dissipate heat, the screw bosses to facilitate attachment of other elements of the fixture, and the central hollow section to reduce weight (and cost).
