Arthur W. Bidwell, Jr., 97, Remembered
Arthur W. Bidwell, Jr., former chairman of the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) passed away on June 29, 2025; he was 97. Mr. Bidwell was CEO and chairman of the board of Magnode Corporation, the company his father founded in New York and later Art moved to Trenton, Ohio. His son, Martin Bidwell, led the company until his retirement and sale of Magnode Corporation to Shape Corp. in January 2018.
Mr. Bidwell was active in the Aluminum Extruders Council for many years and was Chairman of the Council from 1981 – 1982. He was a recipient of the AEC Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Council, in March 2000 for his dedication to the AEC and the aluminum extrusion industry. In addition, he was chairman of the former Extruded Products Division of the Aluminum Association.
The Bidwell family was instrumental in the founding of the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC). Art Bidwell, through his leadership at Magnode and the Council, played a pivotal role in shaping the aluminum extrusion industry. The AEC is deeply grateful for the enduring legacy of the Bidwell family, whose dedication and vision have left an indelible mark on the industry. The AEC honors Art’s contributions and continues to be inspired by the example set by the Bidwells.
He is survived by his children John (Shelley) Bidwell, Marianne Bidwell Walter, Martin (Mary) Bidwell, Joseph (Carol) Bidwell, Kathleen Bidwell Gramke and Father Michael Bidwell; daughter-in-law, Susan Bidwell; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Farrell Bidwell.
A burial service was held for Mr. Bidwell on July 3, 2025, at Holy Family Parish – Holy Family Church, Middletown, OH.
