Authors Chosen to Submit ET '27 Papers
Selected authors have been invited by the ET Seminar Committee to submit their technical paper for consideration, based on their accepted abstract. The deadline for invited paper drafts to be submitted is September 1, 2026. Reviewed and accepted papers will be published in the ET ’27 Proceedings and considered for presentation at ET ’27, April 26-30, 2027, in Orlando, Florida, USA.
The ET Seminar Committee will begin reviewing draft manuscripts in September! The committee’s consideration of submitted manuscripts does NOT guarantee that the submitted paper will be accepted for publication in the ET ’27 Proceedings or for presentation at ET ’27 – such acceptance is at the sole discretion and with the approval of the ET Seminar Committee.
Specific authors’ Guidelines for the preparation and formatting of manuscripts were provided at the time of invitation. The ET Seminar Committee’s Track Teams will then review each of the invited papers. Only those papers that the Committee determines to meet ET’s criteria and standards will be accepted for publishing in ET ’27 Proceedings.
The ET Seminar Committee is comprised of aluminum extrusion industry professionals and academics who are actively involved in the extrusion industry and its related scientific research.
Invited authors’ papers will be reviewed and considered by one of seven Committee Track Teams, according to an abstract’s assigned track – BP: Alloys & Billet Process, EE: Extrusion Equipment, EP: Extrusion & Die Process Application, RD: Extrusion & Die R&D, SM: Sustainability & Management, FF: Extrusion Finishes & Fabrication, and EI: Extrusion Design & Innovation.
Track Teams will review the invited papers after September 1, 2026, and will notify authors if their paper has been approved for acceptance to ET ’27. The ET Foundation will copyright all published ET Proceedings material.

- AEC Extrusion Excellence: Applied Fundamentals for Aluminum Extruders – Theory and practice combine, encompassing aluminum extrusion process from billet production to the press, to the runout table. New and experienced production personnel alike will benefit from this comprehensive look at extrusion topics including alloys, billet metallurgy, extrudability, and much more. The course is taught by esteemed expert, Loewy Professor Wojciech Z. Misiolek, Lehigh University Materials Science & Engineering, and Director of The Loewy Institute, the internationally recognized leader in the field of materials forming and processing.
- AEC Finishing Workshop – Learn the latest developments in pretreatment, equipment, and coating and finishing processes specific to the aluminum extrusion industry. A wealth of information on aluminum finishing and painting awaits, offering problem-solving techniques, roundtable discussions and interactive Field-Testing stations.
- Process Analysis and Optimization – Taught by the renowned Team from the Manufacturing Technologies Group, Lorenzo Donati and Sara Di Donato from University of Bologna, Barbara Reggiani and Riccardo Pelaccia from University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and Marco Negozio from University of Parma, Italy. Anodizing Essentials details the foundation of quality anodizing, taking the learner through the entire process – beginning with the metallurgical properties of aluminum alloys from effective racking and pretreatment to anodizing, focusing on oxide structure and properties, through to post-treatment, dyeing and sealing, to the final rinse. Meet the ET '27 Track Chairs: Part 1
Nick Nanninga: ET ’27 Extrusion & Die R&D (RD) Track Chair
General Manager, Secat, Inc., Lexington, KY
Nick Nanninga has 20+ years of expertise in materials science in alloy development, process R&D and technical training. His specialties include metallurgy, fatigue, fracture, hydrogen embrittlement, manufacturing, metal casting, and metal extrusion. He joined Secat in 2020, serving as technical director through 2023 where he did plenty of hands-on work conducting lab experiments, characterizing metals and performing failure analyses on wheels. Nick oversaw R&D projects impact the aluminum manufacturing industry, researching new materials and processes, reporting results, and planning experiments.
As Secat’s General Manager, Nick is an expert in processing-microstructure-fatigue property relationships in metals and has published numerous articles on this subject in peer-reviewed publications. He is a third-generation metallurgist and has spent his career at several metals manufacturing companies, focused on alloy and process development.
Nick holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan Technological University, and a Doctorate Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, also from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. On the ET Seminar Committee, Nick leads the Extrusion & Die R&D Track Team to review papers on the latest industry research and developments for ET ’27.
Tej Patel: ET ’27 Extrusion Design & Innovation (EI) Track Chair
Director, Techevon LLC, Chicago, IL
Tej Patel is a metal finishing expert with 10+ years of expertise in operations improvement and manufacturing, including in strategic planning, new product development, Project Management Office (PMO), procurement transformation, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management.
Prior to joining Techevon, Tej was Vice President at AlixPartners, a leading global consulting firm. As part of their supply chain and operations practice, he led numerous cost-saving and efficiency initiatives among a variety of manufacturers. Tej has held positions at Baxter, Inc., a Fortune-150 medical products manufacturer, and Archstone Consulting. While at Archstone, he led multiple client teams and projects in the areas of plant floor operations, LEAN manufacturing, and supply chain improvements.
Tej holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, with concentrations in Operations, Strategy and Marketing, in addition to holding a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. Tej will lead the Extrusion Design & Innovation Track as his Track Team considers papers and presentations for ET ’27 that showcase the most innovative aluminum extrusion designs and their applications across the spectrum of extrusion markets.
