In the Trailer

Commercial trailers have been using aluminum extrusions for many years, and there are a number of compelling reasons:

  • Weight Reduction: Cutting pounds in the trailer allows fleets to carry more payload.
  • Durability: Typical life is at least 15 years; corrosion resistance is key characteristic.
  • Ease of assembly: Rivets, bolts, structural adhesives / tape, and welding.
  • Ease of production: Trailers are up to 53-feet long, and extrusions can easily be produced this length, which allows a continuous member to extend front to back. These long members may be the corner sections on top and bottom, as visible on the exterior, or grooved floor sections for refrigerated trailers.
